Portland Japanese Garden / by Kiley Melicker

The Japanese Garden in Portland is one of my happy places. The first time I viewed the garden was on a bright summer day. It was clear but filled with tourists. This time, in fall, it was quiet and over cast. I was excited to see the changing of seasons and colorful leaves. What I didn't expect were lots of mushrooms. What a bonus! I had a fixed lens with me and did not bother with any landscape photography. Too many people in the scene, but no one around in the small spaces under the trees.
